LYSO maintains an ongoing search for experienced instrumental teachers and performers to serve as section coaches for the two orchestras. The duties of section coaches include:

• Arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of each contracted rehearsal
• Use sectionals to rehearse rhythms, fingerings, phrasing, counting, tone quality, etc.
• Follow conductors’ specific suggestions on what to work on during sectionals
• Make a sincere effort to effectively teach and fairly treat each student
• Leave sectional rooms the way they were on arrival
